Upcoming Things!

Hi everyone!

I wanted to take a moment to share 5 things, which include upcoming events, some things that I am thinking and learning about, and places that I will circle back to soon!

1. November 2025 Webinar

First, I'm doing a webinar with AEP Connections on Novemeber 18 on Supporting PDA Individuals with Declarative Language. This is alongside Kelsie Bacon’s webinar, Introduction to Pathological Demand Avoidance. If you purchase both trainings, you’ll receive a 20% discount, and early bird pricing still applies. Join us live or watch the recording later, and earn CEUs along the way!

As I have shared in the past, I really love this content. Immersing myself in, and working to truly understand the PDA community, has helped me elevate my work, and further deepen the way that I think about communication. I am grateful for this, and as is so often the case, when we do better with one community in mind, it often helps us do better for everyone. I’d love for you to join Kelsie and I for this training to learn more!

2. Future Posts

See below for upcoming posts and let me know if one speaks to you right now!

I have a handful of topics that have been brewing in my mind over the past several months, and I’m getting ready to write again. Take a look at my list below and if you have a preference around which one you’d like to hear about first, I’d love to hear from you!

Driving Lessons — my 16 year old has his driver’s permit! Being his co-pilot has been quite the experiment in helping me find the balance between declarative language and imperative langauge!

The Intersection of Consent and Communication - this is a big one that I have been mulling over for a while now and will talk about in my upcoming webinar with AEP Connections. I can’t wait to share more here, and imagine that once I settle into the post, it will be a multi-part series because there is so much to explore in this space.

Leveling Up Our Declarative Language to Support Executive Functioning with Teens and Adults - I have gotten the most practice with this during coaching sesions with parents of older individuals, and I am looking forward to sharing thoughts on this, as well as examples! (Interested in caregiver coaching? Feel free to reach out to me here!).

Is it Okay to Ask Questions? - When you use a declarative communication style, it does not mean you can never ask questions. However, I do approach question-asking with care and intention. This topic comes up in trainings a lot, so I know many of you out there might be wondering about this too, or would like to hear thoughts on how to answer this question yourself. I look forward to fleshing this out more in a blog post soon!

3. Giftedness

I have been spending a lot of time learning about the Gifted and 2e community, following my time at the Davidson Institute Annual Summit this past June, where I was invited to speak. I have really enjoyed thinking through how declarative language fits best with this community - the nuances, the parts that may resonate most, and why declarative language can be so supportive and effective with these individuals.

I’ll write about it sometime, but for right now, what I will say is that giftedness is often misunderstood. It is not just about intelligence, but rather it is about intensity, complexity, and drive, and can touch on one or all five of these types of intelligence: intellectual, emotional, creative, sensual, physical, and existential. It has been fascinating for me to learn about, and I know as I am incorporating what I am learning into my declarative speaking style with kids and sharing ideas during coaching sessions with caregivers, new discoveries and applications will continue to arise, which I am excited for.

I am still in my own deep dive, but I wanted to share some resources with you that are helping me on this learning journey. There are so many out there, so this is just the tip of the iceberg:

4. A Book to Share!

I am so happy to share that Brook Madera’s (No Pressure PDA) and Sally Cat’s book The Insider’s Guide to PDA will be out in January 2026! They asked me to write the forward for their book, which I was honored to do. I have learned so much from both of them, and the PDA Community. So, stay tuned for that!

5. Events

And last but not least, I have a series of in person and virtual trainings and information sessions scheduled into 2026! It never stops being exciting to be a part of a growing community of professionals and caregivers who want to bring intentionality to their communication style, knowing it will bring out the best in everyone. You can see those upcoming events here, but also please reach out to me if this is something you, your school district, or a community that you are a part of may be interested in.

That will do it for now - have a great week and thank you for being here!
