A Conversation with Amanda Diekman

Conversation from the Low Demand Parenting Summit

Good morning!

I am taking a week off from my Cognitive Ridigity Series to share this recording with you from the Low Demand Parenting Summit. It is just under a half-hour and was truly one of the most enjoyable interviews I have had! I think it was Amanda Diekman’s graceful style, as well as the fact that we seem to be on the same wavelength around what is important for our learners (connection!). Amanda is really wonderful and I highly recommend checking out her work.

This talk gives a great overview of the concepts of Declarative Language and Co-Regulation, and emphasizing connection as we move towards our shared goals with our learners. We also dive deeper to talk about a range of topics including processing, what it means to feel “safe”, and stress responses.

It could be a great introduction to anyone in your life with whom you want to share these ideas, and even if these ideas are familiar, Amanda’s insights may give you something new to think about!

Below is the video with subtitles, and audio only is just below. Take your pick!
